The Charlotte Observer
When her corporate job with a global tire manufacturer took an unexpected but delightful turn into an interior decorating project for the company, Monika Nessbach tried to parlay that into a full-time design gig with her employer, Continental.

Before I actually met Monika, I was already completely inspired by this woman and I didn’t even know it. Let me explain, Monika is an interior designer who designed one of what I think is the most visually appealing restaurants in Charlotte, Eight Sushi and Kitchen. I remember going there for the first time and thinking how cool of a spot it was for Charlotte. But my admiration didn’t stop there, being from California I’m always on the look out for great tacos, so when I saw Texicali Taco and Tequila was also opening and saw pictures of the design, I said YES!!! that place is rockin’ too.

Local interior designer Monika Nessbach wanted a place to call her own. She’s an energetic and engaging transplant from Germany, came to Charlotte 16 years ago and liked it enough to stay. “I just haven’t left yet,” she laughs. Nessbach is the owner of local interior design firm Designbar, which specializes in commercial spaces.
