Ethan Davis

Intern

Ethan is currently in his senior year at Queens University of Charlotte studying to graduate with a BA in Interior Architecture & Design. He is interning with us for the 2023-2024 academic year.

His love for interior design comes from an appreciation for both the natural and built environments around him and their ability to provide new and unique experiences. His goal is to create meaningful and impactful spaces that provide said experiences for their occupants.

His role as an intern is to assist the interior designers in executing the client’s design through conceptual design, schematics, design development, CD’s, selecting FF&E, and project management. He will be graduating in May of 2024.

Ethan’s Design POV

  • Favorite Piece of Furniture

My favorite piece of furniture is the Wilkes Modular Armchair, aka the “Chiclet,” sold by Herman Miller. I am determined to have one of these in my future living room. There is something about its elegant soft curves that is so inviting to me.

  • Favorite Design Style

My favorite design style to date is “Streamline Moderne,” which is an international style of Art Deco from the 1930s and 40s that served as a precursor to the avant-garde of Design at Mid-Century. Its soft, stacked curves are intended to illustrate the aerodynamics of machines and modes of transportation from that period moving through space and time. I especially admire this minimalist style for its ability to make a structure look like a spaceship. What’s not to love about all those rounded edges?

  • Bucket List Experience

I love running and I love traveling; the biggest experience on my bucket list is to race the Berlin Marathon, one of six World Marathon Majors. Although, I feel like if I do one, I might as well knock off the other five as well: Tokyo, Boston, Chicago, London, and New York City. Doing so would get my name in an exclusive club and earn me a Six Star Medal.

  • Dream Celebrity Client

My dream celebrity client is Frank Ocean. I’m a fan of his music, but I’m an even bigger fan of his NYC apartment, more specifically his blue Dune Sofa by Pierre Paulin. If I could use this piece of furniture for the entire inspiration for a new living Design project for him, I most definitely would. I mean, who doesn’t love a conversation pit and funky Design suitable for Frank Ocean himself?
